As I sat down at my computer Friday morning to start work on the next episode of Murphy's Saloon, I found that not even the external "power ready" light was visible.

I called Apple tech support, fed a sizable number of dollar bills into the slot, was advised by the tech helper to push the internal "reset" button - and got nothing.

<Flash forward four hours (leaving out a number of not-entirely-relevant details of my day):

After a little poking and prodding of my G5's guts at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store, I was informed that the internal power supply unit had to be replaced, which would take 3-7 days.

Soooooo ... if you've subscribed to this show notes blog through RSS, you now have a preliminary written report (from a borrowed notebook computer) about why the episode I'm assembling today is going to be short and, very likely, not up to my usual audio production standards.
